This week has been an another exhilarating week in ISM.
After returning from spring break, I went back to working on my final product. Both the female and male developmental reproductive and sexual anatomy (including puberty) has been completed, along with my product progress log. Here, I was able to expand on my curriculum and further research the biological anatomy for men and women. Despite my accomplishments, I need to communicate with my partner, Axum Taylor, about the layout of the research outline and website outline. I would like for the research outline to be complete before any insertion of information onto the website.
Moreover, I finally conducted my first mentor visit! THis week I wean to Denton County Commissioner Court. While the process of legal court may not seem relevant to Public Health, Commissioner court deals with budgets. The courts approves, declines, or ask for the revisions of budget by the asking party. Denton County was approved for finance of Tuberculosis SCreenings and vaccination and preparation for the next flu season. During commissioners court, my mentor delivered a presentation of Denton County rankings in comparison to the state of Texas. Denton County ranked No.1 for health factors and No.6 for health wellness; Our country is above national rankings in both health factors and wellness! One other thing that I observers from my mentors presentation is his delivery. In ISM, we are instructed to have both a serious and professional presentation delivery, as a result not leaving much room for our unique personalities. My mentor, Dr. Richardson, was professional and serious during his presentation, but he was also very relaxed and humorous. With this noted, I will try to implement such characteristics into my Final Presentation Night speech.
